Views on Finance

It was a rainy day and I had to rush to Mrs. Lee's house early in the morning. She rang me at 5:30 in the morning to ask me to come to her house earlier than usual because she is feeling very sore on her knees. She said she cannot even get up from bed to go to the toilet.

I have been Mrs. Lee's carer for the past seven years since I completed my certificate in the university as a qualified carer and got a degree in Physical Therapy as well. Mrs. Lee lives few streets away from my house. My parents have been friends with her and business partners since I and my siblings were young. Mrs. Lee lives all by herself. She is a widow whose only son left her to live his own life away from his mother; free from responsibilities. Being Mrs. Lee's carer now I feel fully responsible for her and have willingly shouldered any liability that her son refused to carry.

As I opened the front door of Mrs. Lee's house I was stunned to see her sitting on the lounge. I was wondering how was she able to walk herself from the bed if her knees are sore. I was so worried about her.

"How are you Mrs. Lee?", I asked with so much worry in my voice.

"I am fine Linda", she said in a very low voice. "I am so sorry I had to disturb you early in the morning", she continued.

"No worries Mrs. Lee. So, are your knees still sore?", I asked her. "You should have just waited for me, you know I won't let you wait for long," I told her.

She smiled and said, "I am sorry Linda, but I was lying to you."

"What about Mrs. Lee?", I curiously asked.

"It is not true that my knees are sore. I lied to you.", she said with a very embarrassed look on her face.

"Why Mrs. Lee?", I asked.

"I haven't had enough sleep for several days Linda. I feel like I need to prepare for something as my stay here on earth won't be long anymore." I listened to her intently as she spoke.

"I rang my lawyer the other day and he is coming here today to show me my last will and testament. He asked me for a copy of the insurance policy which he asked from the life insurance online team. He said the company already sent it to me few years back. I do not know where I placed them and he did not even kept a copy for himself. I tried to ring my insurance company because I lost my personal copy of the policy. I cannot contact them perhaps I got the wrong number. I do not even know whom to talk to. I think it would be better if you could help me connect with that company's life insurance online." she continued.

"Do you also want me to show you the quote that those builders sent you the other day Mrs. Lee?", I asked.

"No Linda. I don't think there's a point in renovating my place now. I just want to focus first on matters that are of utmost important at this point in time." Mrs. Lee explained.

"Don't worry Mrs. Lee, I will contact those people from the life insurance online. I will send them a message about your concerns. But if you want an urgent answer to your concerns I will try to contact them on the phone. Life insurance online might take several days for their support team to respond." I explained to Mrs. Lee.

"It is up to you Linda. Thanks for everything. I do not want to worry anymore.", Mrs. Lee said with a beautiful smile on her face.
